Are Journalists Idiots?
I write this partly because I’m a customer in Nordea myself and have been for maybe 35 years and also have shares in their (don’t know the right term in English) funds/equity funds/mutual funds, through a pension account.
The other day a Swedish Television company made a reportage about how one of the biggest banks in Northern Europe – Nordea – deceived their customers/clients. Nordeas funds have in some cases been a bad investment for it’s participants. It’s like these journalists haven’t understood there’s a global financial crises going on, no matter if Nordea is worse off with it’s funds in comparison to other banks in Europe. What will now happen? Many clients will now withdraw their shares from funds and force the bank to compensate for the loss of capital by ditching valuable shares on the the stock market, now in the dale of darkness, worst times. Did these journalists gain the banks customers? Probably not, rather it’s the opposite. Talk about sabotage, because it hurts standing clients and maybe also leaving clients. People born in the 40-ties, who have worked all their lives and are now retired, may lose money from their Nordea funds.
This submission doesn’t mean I advocate the huge revenues Nordea take out from their customers – but that’s another question, and there I also join the group of criticizers.. Not everyone can keep things apart, they generalize and twist the truth. Are they fit to speak in public?
